Understanding the Brain of a Child with ADHD

Session 2- Understanding the ADHD Brain

In this session we will use science to explain with how our brains work, and more specifically how the ADHD brain works.

As children develop they are mastering their executive functioning skills. These skills develop over time and we as parents need to support this learning by coaching our child in the different executive functioning areas:

-Attention Management

-Action Management

-Task Management

-Information Management

-Emotion Management

-Effort Management

Children with ADHD brains can develop differently in the above areas of executive functioning so it is important to look at how your child learns, see what areas they excel at and help with the areas that they struggle with.

In this video you get to see what it is like for a student that is trying to take a test and navigate interruptions that happen in the classroom. This can help in highlighting what students need as a support to be successful.
