The ABC's of ADHD: B is for Beliefs

Session 4: The ABC's of ADHD:

B is for Beliefs

Beliefs around ADHD can be both positive and negative. They can be helpful or hurtful. They can be facts or myths. Either way as a parent we are navigating these situation everyday and that can be exhausting.

In this session we will explore how beliefs affect the family as a whole. We will look at the Circle of Security and how we as parents can practice self care. The end goal for us is to build a strong ADHD family.

Added Videos:

There are no specific videos included in this weeks session, though below I have added in some extra videos that help explain the Circle of Security and how we can look at our time with our children as connection.

The handouts this week explore ways to build our child's self esteem and help correct negative labels. Another focus this week was understanding the Circle of Security and how being on the circle with our children is so helpful to support their needs as they grow and learn.

Parent Reflection:

The Behaviour Triage Part 1:

As we continue to move forward with our family plan this week we will focus on both your parenting strengths and your child's strengths. By using this what is called a strength based approach we can actually create clear goals that will help with the problem situations.

When we feel we are good at something we feel confident, we trust our abilities. These strengths can also create a growth mindset for our children and encourage them to keep trying even when they aren't successful the first time.
